It has been less than seventy years since the birth of the jet age. Many people quite rightly associate the beginning of the era with names like Wernher von Braun, Hans Pabst von Ohain and Ernst Heinkel. Another whose name is just as closely linked, if less well known, is Erich Warsitz - the courageous testpilot who boldly climbed into the newly designed aircraft of the time to fly them for the first time. He risked his life to test the new jet power plants that revolutionised aviation.

Erich Warsitz was one of the crucial individuals who laid down the basic rules that have made it possible for modern aviation technology to span time and space.
